In the Maison Gardiennage, there existed an official funded by Lyney, serving as a crucial link between the Hotel and the outer world. This individual provided intelligence supporting the Hotel’s endeavors while discreetly managing the aftermath of its covert actions. The risks associated with such tasks were substantial, but the official held a steadfast belief that the Fontaine of the present required a figure akin to “Father” capable of circumventing layers of laws and regulations to take direct action.

Lyney, in a characteristically nonchalant manner, once jestingly assured the official, “I’ll be there if you ever need help, and if you’re in danger, I’ll come to rescue you… Well, don’t expect too much of that last bit. Just stay on guard, alright?”

The official discerned the genuine concern in Lyney’s words, even though they were delivered in jest. However, as fate would have it, these seemingly lighthearted words would prove prophetic. When the official’s activities were exposed, he found himself on the verge of capture. In a critical moment, he activated an emergency communication device, sending a message to Lyney.
