How Scientists Removed Defects to Grow Dolomite Crystals in the Lab?
For two centuries, scientists encountered challenges in cultivating a widely occurring mineral in a laboratory setting, replicating the conditions thought to have naturally given rise to it. However, a breakthrough has been achieved by a collaborative team from the University of Michigan and Hokkaido University in Sapporo, Japan. This success was made possible through the application of a novel theory derived from atomic simulations.
