Disney+ Schedules Episode of Savanaclaw for December 23

Disney+ announced that Disney Twisted-Wonderland: Episode of Savanaclaw will debut on December 23, 2026, running for eight weekly episodes.

Disney+ announced that Episode of Savanaclaw, the second season of Disney Twisted-Wonderland The Animation, will begin streaming on December 23, 2026 [1]. The production adapts the companion manga series and will run for eight episodes, releasing a new chapter every Wednesday exclusively on the streaming service [2]. While the first season focused on the Alice in Wonderland-inspired dorm of Heartslabyul, this new arc turns toward the fierce students of Savanaclaw [3].

When Does Episode of Savanaclaw Air?

The weekly broadcast begins exclusively on Disney+ on December 23, 2026, giving international fans eight consecutive weeks of new animated releases throughout the winter season [1]. Each episode will arrive on a Wednesday, following the regular distribution schedule Disney established during previous anime rollouts [4]. The entire arc runs without a mid-season break [3].

The release date news arrived exactly three months after Disney revealed the initial teaser visual on July 27, 2026. That summer date was picked deliberately because it coincides with the fictional birthday of Savanaclaw dorm head Leona Kingscholar. While the Japanese broadcast date is now set, Disney hasn’t confirmed whether an English dub will premiere simultaneously on December 23. When the first season debuted in October 2025, its English dub launched on both Disney+ and Hulu on the very same day as the Japanese broadcast, and international viewers are waiting to see if Disney repeats that synchronized worldwide launch for the second season [3].

Disney+ currently carries the animated franchise in more than fifty territories, including the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, and New Zealand. In the United States, Hulu also streams the episodes under its existing Disney entertainment partnership [4]. The platform aims to reach both longtime mobile players and newcomers [2].

Yuuka Hirasaka and the Savanaclaw Dorm

The second season introduces a brand new human protagonist named Yuuka Hirasaka, voiced by Fairouz Ai. Yuuka is a dedicated high school student who excels at competitive judo. On her way home from a judo tournament, she encounters a mysterious carriage that transports her to an unfamiliar magical world [1].

This transition to Yuuka shifts the perspective away from the first season’s lead character Yūken Enma, voiced by Yōhei Azakami [1],. In that opening story, Yūken belonged to the kendō club at Hibari Metropolitan High School before a black carriage pulled him through a magic mirror [3]. The animated series adapts the different student protagonists featured in the printed manga volumes instead of relying on a single silent video game avatar. Arriving with nowhere to turn, Yuuka receives shelter from the academy’s masked headmaster Dire Crowley, voiced by Mitsuru Miyamoto. She must now survive the fiercely competitive atmosphere of Night Raven College with the unruly magical monster Grim, voiced by Noriaki Sugiyama [1].

The Savanaclaw dormitory draws its visual identity and school philosophy from The Lion King, drawing on the indomitable spirit of the king of beasts. Second-year student Leona Kingscholar leads the dorm, but his status as a royal second prince left him cynical about fair competition. In official promotional text, Leona explains his mindset: “Effort or not, there are plenty of things in this world that can’t be helped. That’s why I choose any means necessary.”. Leona’s dorm companions include the defiant Ruggie Bucchi and the conflicted first-year beastman Jack Howl [5].

Voice Actors on Savanaclaw Characters

The Japanese voice cast returned to record their characters and provided official reflections for Disney+ Japan. Yūichirō Umehara, who voices Leona Kingscholar, said that the new season gave him far more acting material because the plot focuses directly on Savanaclaw Dorm. “Since the focus is on Savanaclaw Dorm this time I had a lot of scenes to record, and it was a lot of fun,” Umehara said in translated comments. “The interactions between the characters created a passionate drama, and even as one of the performers I’m looking forward to seeing the finished product.” [6].

Taito Ban, the voice of Jack Howl, welcomed the anime adaptation six years after the mobile game first launched. Ban said: “At last…!! Disney Twisted-Wonderland The Animation: Episode of Savanaclaw is finally beginning! It’s been six years since the world of Twisted-Wonderland first began.” [6].

Ban also urged viewers to pay close attention to the flying broom sport called Spelldrive, pointing out that fast-paced tournament matches showcase Savanaclaw’s raw physical power. Aoi Ichikawa, who voices Ruggie Bucchi, noted that he has performed the character for more than half of his voice acting career. “Being able to see a character I’ve spent more than half of my voice acting career with come to life once again is incredibly moving,” Ichikawa said [6]. The wider cast also features returning Heartslabyul students Riddle Rosehearts, Ace Trappola, Deuce Spade, Trey Clover, and Cater Diamond, with Octavinelle dorm leader Azul Ashengrotto [1], [7].

Production Staff Behind Episode of Savanaclaw

Animation production remains with Yumeta Company and Graphinica, continuing their creative partnership [1]. The two studios previously collaborated on Tokyo Mew Mew New, Record of Ragnarok II, Muv-Luv Alternative, Cue!, and Re:Stage! Dream Days♪. Their shared pipeline blends hand-drawn animation with digital effects [6].

Takahiro Natori serves as chief director and series script supervisor after previously helming Aria the Benedizione. Shin Katagai directs the episodes at both studios, bringing directing experience from fantasy adventure shows like The Ossan Newbie Adventurer. Main writer Yoichi Kato, recognized for writing on Space Brothers and Aikatsu!, oversees the episodic scripts [1]. Hanaka Nakano and Akane Satō handle character designs, with Aki Tsunaki contributing sub-character designs [7]. Art director Junya Nishihara leads background design with color designer Nagisa Abe, while Yoji Nagasawa directs 3DCG elements, Takao Saito directs photography, and Michi Takigawa manages editing [6],. Sound director Miho Sugawara oversees the audio mixing [7].

Composer Takumi Ozawa returns from the mobile game to create the anime’s soundtrack [1]. Ozawa announced on social media that he finished writing the background score for Savanaclaw on March 10, 2026 [6]. The production also brings back the vocal theme song “Piece of my world,” performed by Night Ravens [7].

Manga Origins and Planned Future Seasons

Disney Twisted-Wonderland began as a mobile role-playing game produced by Aniplex and Walt Disney Japan. The title launched in Japan on March 18, 2020, and reached North American players on January 20, 2022. Yana Toboso, creator of Black Butler, wrote the original concept and designed the characters [2].

English readers will encounter the printed Savanaclaw arc before the anime begins streaming. Penguin Random House and Random House Worlds scheduled Twisted-Wonderland: Book of Savanaclaw (The Manga), Vol. 1 for release on December 1, 2026. Illustrated by Suzuka Oda, the paperback volume spans 176 pages and retails for $14.00. The book arrives three weeks ahead of the Disney+ premiere [3].

While Disney expands console gaming projects like Disney Dreamlight Valley for international audiences, its animated productions adapt Japanese mobile titles through direct partnerships with domestic studios. The Twisted-Wonderland anime was planned from the outset as a three-season project. Following Heartslabyul and Savanaclaw, the third season will be Episode of Octavinelle, which adapts the dormitory inspired by The Little Mermaid [1], [3]. The manga continuity in Japan is also moving forward, with the fourth arc, Episode of Scarabia, having published its first collected volume on February 27, 2026. These connected releases give fans continuous story content in print, mobile, and streaming formats [2].
