HoYoverse scheduled the launch of Hour of Ruin for November 4, 2026. The release delivers Version 7.2 of Genshin Impact on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and mobile devices. In this patch, the ruling Archons and regional envoys assemble in Snezhnaya for a joint military council to confront disturbances caused by mysterious pillars of light. Story completion within the event window rewards 560 Primogems and character ascension materials for new party members [1].

What the Hour of Ruin Campaign Changes

Acts 5 and 6 continue the storyline. An entity named Ronova triggers instability in the Nails of Retribution located within each territory. The resulting disturbances threaten human civilization with an invasive phenomenon called the Holy Soil [6].

In response to this emergency, the Tsaritsa convenes leaders from all seven regions to meet in Snezhnaya. The Traveler stands with Neuvillette and the ruling Archons to defend the land, but regional borders no longer isolate each nation from its neighbors. The joint front alters the flow of the campaign as events build toward Version 8.0, because the alliance unites years of separate regional worldbuilding into a single concerted push against the impending destruction of civilization. Energy fluctuations within the Nails grow violent. Regional authorities coordinate defensive strategies against the spread of contaminated terrain as ancient powers awaken [3].

Players receive 560 Primogems and character ascension supplies upon finishing the Archon Quest within the designated window. Secret Tsarist Assignments unlock an exclusive Snezhnaya wind glider. The narrative advances the Hour of Ruin storyline following the Genshin Impact Version 7.1 patch that introduced characters Vesna and Vodyanitsa [2].

The Subterranean City of Novokitezhgrad

Exploration moves eastward into Snezhnaya with the opening of Novokitezhgrad, an industrial hub located deep beneath the frozen surface where living quarters and processing plants sit encased inside crystalline formations. The settlement serves as the nation’s main source of Kresnik Kristall. Raw minerals supply civilian and military projects across the country. Miners extract minerals daily. A railway links the eastern frontier to older territories, carrying travelers through subterranean tunnels cut through solid ice [1].

Above the subterranean tunnels, the terrain rises into Wingspan Peak, a mountain shaped like an open wing that leads to the ruins of Old Kitezhgrad. Lore describes this highland settlement as the first city in Snezhnaya, founded by the Belyi Tsar before construction shifted downward into sheltered vaults. The high mountain passes force travelers to manage environmental cold hazards using Prime Ice Constructs and two elemental shotguns operating in a third-person perspective. Shotguns and ice formations clear contaminated crystal deposits to uncover history left behind by early settlers. Cold winds scour ridges. Remote cliffs hold three Local Legends with specialized combat mechanics, but a colossal world boss known as the Wavebinder waits deep beneath the frozen streets of Novokitezhgrad to yield character ascension materials [3].

Meeting Point story quests appear in this eastern zone. Danica travels through Novokitezhgrad on a cleanup task for the Tsaritsa, but Mitya surveys soil properties near Teplo Oasis on a separate mission [1].

Playable Roster Additions

Two new Electro combatants arrive during the patch with different tactical combat roles. Mitya is a five-star catalyst fighter voiced in Japanese by Yusuke Kobayashi. Mitya carries an Electro catalyst. The character carries the official title Rules Set at Naught [4].

Mitya converts standard Superconduct reactions into Stellar-Conduct reactions. Stellar-Conduct raises the damage output of the entire team and accumulates special energy during battle. A tap of his Elemental Skill releases stored energy to strike nearby opponents with periodic Stellar-Conduct damage. A held Skill consumes that energy for rapid charged attacks. His Elemental Burst deals area Electro damage and restores energy reserves, and his field sensor reveals hidden mountain routes in Snezhnaya that unlock an alternate costume [1].

The roster also expands with Valeriy, a four-star sword user titled Fort Fulguration and voiced by Makoto Furukawa. Valeriy holds a heavy shield. As a Major of the Armory Palace, he enters battle carrying a sword and a cannon-mounted heavy shield [5].

Valeriy generates protective barriers for teammates and boosts Electro damage. His defensive kit sustains Stellar-Conduct rotations during protracted engagements, making him a durable support choice for elemental teams. Preview coverage from Sina and 17173 reported that Mitya pairs effectively with existing Cryo rosters, particularly characters like Odette from earlier Snezhnaya releases. His damage formulas scale with his Elemental Mastery stat to encourage tailored reaction builds, but Valeriy also serves as an accessible alternative to Alyosha for shield defense [2].

Event Banners and Chronicled Wish

The banner schedule for Version 7.2 divides into two three-week halves. Phase 1 begins November 4. Mitya appears under the wish title Myriad Patterns Unfold, and Valeriy receives boosted drop rates on the same banner [2].

Furina returns for a rerun during this opening period. Phase 2 shifts focus to returning characters, hosting reruns for Geo characters Zibai and Linnea. A Natlan Chronicled Wish will also run during this cycle, offering targeted pulls for five-star fighters including Varesa, Chasca, Xilonen, Mualani, and Kinich across an integrated banner system. The grouped banner format lets fans pull for specific team compositions without waiting for separate solo banners [5].

Weapon banners accompany each phase with powerful gear. Phase 1 introduces the five-star catalyst Starsealed Edict tailored to Mitya’s elemental mastery build. The Chronicled Wish adds several notable five-star weapons to the selection, including Vivid Notions, Astral Vulture’s Crimson Plumage, Peak Patrol Song, Surf’s Up, and Fang of the Mountain King [5].

The October 23 preview livestream revealed three limited-time gift codes—HourofRuin, ExpertMitya, and PhotoTime—that offered 300 Primogems, Hero’s Wit, and Mora before expiring on October 26. HoYoverse stated that Valeriy will enter the standard banner pool in subsequent updates [2].

Rewards Across the Hour of Ruin Schedule

The flagship event for Hour of Ruin carries the title The Grand Defense: Defy the Unjust Judgment and runs from November 4 to December 16, 2026. Access opens through Archon Quest progression or the Quick Start feature. Battlefield runs pay 920 Primogems. Milestone completion lets travelers invite one free four-star character from a roster containing Amber, Xiangling, Thoma, Collei, Lynette, Kachina, Aino, and Alyosha [6].

Smaller in-game events will roll out across November and December. Stygian Onslaught runs from November 11 to December 15 with 450 Primogems on offer, but Stress Block Smashing Project runs from November 20 to November 30 with 420 Primogems. Snezhnaya hosts the Frames of Fierce Splendor photography gathering from November 27 to December 7. Community events Keep Up With Mitya! and Trial of the Usurper supply extra currency [5].

The creative sandbox mode Miliastra Wonderland receives new tools with a masquerade-themed lobby and free cosmetic sets. User creations grew quickly, and the mode passed 100,000 builders during its first year. The update also refreshes the Imaginarium Theater challenge mode with system refinements [3].

Servers will enter scheduled maintenance on November 3, roughly matching earlier version rollouts where downtime began at 06:00 UTC+8 and lasted five hours with 300 Primogems as compensation. In real-world developments, HoYoverse announced the permanent Genshin CAFE opening January 20, 2027, at Yurakucho Marui in Tokyo under the motto “A detour in the middle of a journey.” The venue provides exclusive merchandise and themed meals to traveling fans [4].
