French entertainment company Ankama announced that its new fantasy television project, the Welsh & Shedar anime, will stream free worldwide on YouTube starting November 5, 2026. International audiences can watch the 12-part series on the newly launched Krosmoz channel with voice dubs in English, French, and Japanese, as well as subtitles in four languages. The announcement arrived Monday through an official trailer, confirming that global fans won’t need a paid streaming subscription to watch the show [1].

How Krosmoz Streams Welsh & Shedar Anime Worldwide

The international release on YouTube brings Ankama’s animated production to fans outside Japan on the new Krosmoz channel [1]. Episode 1 premieres on Thursday, November 5, followed by Episode 2 on Friday, November 6. After that two-day launch, one new episode drops every Thursday through mid-January 2027 [2].

Every episode on the Krosmoz channel will offer full voice tracks in English, French, and Japanese, so viewers can pick their preferred language right from the start. Three dub languages are available. In addition to the three audio dubs, the video uploads will include subtitle options in English, French, Spanish, and Portuguese [1]. Ankama confirmed that the YouTube stream covers viewers worldwide, though Japan is excluded because the television broadcast is already underway there [2]. It’s an accessible setup for international fans who missed the Japanese broadcast of The Azure Legend: Aoki Densho when it first hit Tokyo MX on October 2 [3].

This open distribution model mirrors other major anime projects on the web, including the Suikoden anime streaming free on YouTube without monthly subscription locks [2]. Ankama has built an international audience since 2004 around its tactical MMORPG DOFUS, and it previously published French editions of manga like Atsushi Kaneko’s SOIL and Suguro Chayamachi’s Togainu no Chi. Putting Welsh and Shedar on YouTube lets new viewers discover the world without paying upfront fees [1].

Weekly Episode Release Calendar

Ankama Animations confirmed on its official X account that the series runs for 12 episodes in total. The season spans twelve episodes. Each episode carries a food-inspired title that reflects the show’s cooking themes. The company shared the full schedule so fans can track each upcoming release [2].

The first half of the season sets up the adventure during November, giving viewers weekly drops every Thursday after the two-episode debut. The series opens with Episode 1, titled “MUSHROOM PIE,” on November 5, followed by Episode 2, “CHEESE OMELET,” on November 6. Episode 3, “A TASTE OF LICORICE,” streams on November 12, while Episode 4, “CARAMELIZED KEBABS,” arrives on November 19. Heading into late November, Episode 5, “CARBONADE,” debuts on November 26, leading into December with Episode 6, “GRILLED SURF AND TURF,” on December 3. Viewers don’t have to guess when new chapters arrive because the team locked the broadcast calendar in advance [2].

The schedule continues through December with Episode 7, “ZABELLE’S MEAL,” on December 10 and Episode 8, “KITTY BROTH,” on December 17. New episodes drop on Thursdays. Holiday viewers can watch Episode 9, “APPLESAUCE,” on December 24, and Episode 10, “ONION SOUP!,” on December 31. The season wraps up in January with Episode 11, “CINNAMON MADELEINES!,” on January 7, and the finale, Episode 12, titled “WELSH & SHEDAR,” on January 14. That steady pace keeps the story moving without mid-season delays [2].

Multilingual Voice Cast

To support its simultaneous English, French, and Japanese releases, Ankama hired experienced voice actors in all three languages for the lead roles. The full cast is confirmed. Welsh, a humble country cook from Brassica who discovers a heroic destiny, is voiced by Daniel J. McLean in English, Sacha Tomassian in French, and Rikuya Yasuda in Japanese. Shedar, the prince whose fate intertwines with Welsh when a tyrant threatens the realm, is voiced by Kevin Garcia in English, Tom Trouffier in French, and renowned voice actor Yuki Kaji in Japanese. Giving both protagonists distinct voices across three major dub tracks helps each version feel natural to local viewers [1].

The royal antagonist and key allies also feature prominent voice talent in each language track. Queen Zabelle is portrayed by Marissa Lenti in English, Frédérique Tirmont in French, and Yuko Kaida in Japanese. The adventurer Joris is voiced by Elgin David Aponte in English, Yoann Bellot-Sover in French, and Makoto Furukawa in Japanese [1].

Welsh’s faithful friend Béchamel is voiced by Risa Kageyama in English, Laëtitia Godès in French, and Risa Kayama in Japanese. Kyle Phillips plays the warrior Kahn Karkas in English, with Emmanuel Gradi voicing him in French and Wataru Takagi taking the Japanese role. The black dragon Asalar features Crist Jarrett in English, Florian Wormser in French, and Show Hayami in Japanese. Christina Groom, Magali Rosensweig, and Risa Hayamizu voice Mama Caroni in English, French, and Japanese respectively. It isn’t easy to coordinate three complete casts, but the broad lineup gives audiences plenty of choices [1].

Production Staff

Animation production takes place at Studio Massket under the direction of Naoki Horiuchi. Horiuchi previously served as an episode director on high-profile anime, including the second season of Kingdom, Black Clover, and Vivy -Fluorite Eye’s Song-, and he also directed The Weakest Tamer Began a Journey to Pick Up Trash [1]. Ankama and Studio Dream Catcher share production credits, combining French creative vision with Japanese studio craftsmanship [2].

Saori Nakashiki, known for character designs on Tales of Wedding Rings and Sasaki and Peeps, designed the characters and acts as chief animation director with Date A Live IV director Yoshiaki Tsubata and Yuki Ikeda of WAVE!! -Let’s go surfing!!. Eri Suzuki handled color key art, while Lucas Cisterne managed art settings and Takuya Imakado created the monster designs [1]. Tot is credited with the original work, scripts, and series story outline, while Kenichi Yamashita, known for MF Ghost and The Holy Grail of Eris, adapted the series scripts for the Japanese version [2]. Sound director Jun Watanabe led audio production at TO Books [1].

Pierre-Jean Beaudoin and Jose Pavli composed the music score for the anime. Veteran singers Hironobu Kageyama and Masami Okui perform the opening theme song “Bokura no Mirai e” (To Our Future). Kageyama also performs the ending theme “Omelette,” and joins singer KUKO on the insert track “I’m in you”. That soundtrack gives the series a classic anime energy [1].

Story Details in the Welsh & Shedar Anime Universe

The world of the Welsh & Shedar anime takes place in Ankama’s World of Twelve, introducing a fantasy realm where culinary skill meets legendary artifacts [2]. The plot brings together two boys from completely different stations in life who must stop a tyrant’s scheme to conquer the world [1]. Welsh works as a cook in Brassica, while Shedar prepares for his royal calling [2].

The central villain of the series is Queen Zabelle Sheran Sharm, the ruler of Bonta and guardian of the Ebony Dofus. Zabelle wants to unite every nation in the World of Twelve under her command, but her harsh rule and thirst for power have plunged the lands into misery, prompting Shedar to proclaim a prophecy predicting her downfall. A boy with azure blue eyes will appear to bring an end to her rule, prompting a desperate struggle to protect the kingdom [2].

That boy is Welsh, whose ordinary life turns upside down when the black dragon Asalar attacks his peaceful home. To save his world from destruction, Welsh must set out to find the Ivory Dofus, the only ancient relic powerful enough to counteract Queen Zabelle. The traveler Béchamel joins Welsh together with the fighters Joris and Khan Karkass as the young protagonist learns about his heritage and rises to become a champion. It’s a classic coming-of-age journey that blends colorful animation with high-stakes fantasy adventure [2].
