Localization company Orange Inc. announced on Tuesday that its digital platform is adding 11 exclusive series to the emaqi manga catalog this month. The company added eight titles slated for the monthly subscription tier. As detailed by Joanna Cayanan of Anime News Network, the update brings a new chat assistant designed to help readers browse through the catalog based on personal mood and reading preferences [1]. All 11 releases arrive in English for the first time through licensing agreements with Japanese publishing houses, according to William Moo of Anime Trending [2].

Emaqi Manga Additions for October

The October rollout kicked off on October 6 with the digital debut of creator Yuka Tatami’s romantic comedy Streaming Under My Control. It’s the first time the title has received an official English release, as confirmed by Joanna Cayanan. Digital readers who pick up the emaqi manga e-book edition receive exclusive bonus illustrations placed at the end of the volume [1].

On October 9, the storefront releases The Soldier Groom and the Daikon Bride, an unconventional romance created by manga artist koma. The plot follows Hana, a hardworking farmer’s daughter whose daily routine changes when a young soldier in uniform named Homare arrives at her door, announcing that officials sent him because today was supposed to be his official wedding ceremony. The story blends rural comedy with classic arranged marriage storytelling as two complete strangers try to understand why they were paired together [1].

The catalog shifts toward grim post-apocalyptic survival on October 13 with the arrival of Ryokuji Yoshizawa’s And So, We Mostly Destroyed, available through the premium membership plan. In this harsh dystopian setting, human civilization stands on the brink of total collapse after grotesque monsters overran cities, wiped out most of the population, and left survivors scattered in danger. Defying tremendous odds, a determined father and his young daughter manage to stay alive together while navigating the dangerous ruins. The book showcases Yoshizawa’s distinct visual worldbuilding. The work serves as a dark counterweight to the lighter romantic comedies featured earlier in the month [1].

New Licensing Deals With Japanese Publishers

All 11 additions in the October roster come from Japanese publishers Shinchosha, Houbunsha, and Shonengahosha. The rollout marks their first official digital release in the English language. Some digital storefronts concentrate solely on single-publisher catalogs, similar to initiatives expanding the Manga UP! Global catalog with proprietary releases. In contrast, Anime Trending notes that Orange Inc. partners with multiple independent publishing companies to build a diverse lineup of emaqi manga titles [2].

A major wave of new content lands on October 16, led by Yuji Shiozaki’s martial arts series Shin Ikki Tousen, the sequel manga that received an anime adaptation in 2022 [2]. The story brings Three Kingdoms historical warriors to students at Nanyo Academy, where newly arrived transfer student Sonken receives a rough welcome on her first day. Joining it on the same day is Kaduho’s comedy manga Kill Me Baby, which follows student assassin Sonya while her fearless classmate Yasuna refuses to leave her side [1]. The four-panel gag manga previously inspired a 13-episode anime series in 2012. Fast slapstick humor drives the dynamic between the duo [2].

The October 16 lineup also introduces Kawakami Daishiro’s slice-of-life manga Song of the Thirty-Year-Olds’ Blues, a reflective drama about adulthood and second chances. Six high school friends meet again at their thirty-year class reunion and realize that while they found stability in daily work, they still feel unfulfilled. Remembering their teenage dreams of becoming pro gamers, musicians, and comedians, one friend speaks up with a clear proposal: “Let’s give our dreams one more shot”. All six friends quit their day jobs and move into a shared house together so they can pursue their creative passions as adults [1].

Emaqi Service Premium Subscription Tier

Publisher Orange Inc confirmed that eight of the 11 new series join the emaqi Premium monthly tier within the emaqi manga service. Subscribers receive immediate access without separate volume purchases. Readers who don’t want a monthly membership can still buy individual e-book editions through the standard digital storefront. The subscription selection on October 16 includes Tsuji Yamori’s Time Traveler’s Disease, a suspenseful loop thriller about a reserved husband named Mirai who hides a condition that transports him back in time during intense emotional outbursts. Three days after a suspicious phone call, Mirai learns that his cheerful wife Meguru has died, prompting him to travel backward in time to save her life. The digital edition collects chapters 1 through 8 and reproduces the original color pages [1].

On October 20, the platform introduces Maiko Uchino’s fly-fishing manga Slow Loop. The manga previously inspired a 12-episode anime adaptation in 2022, opening with the memorable thought: “Lately, fishing has kind of been… really fun” [1].

The story centers on Hiyori, an angler dedicated to saltwater casting who learned the outdoor pastime from her late father. Her solitary routine shifts when she meets Koharu, whose father recently married Hiyori’s mother. That meeting turns the two girls into sisters. Also arriving on October 20 is Santa Uonome’s drama A Meal By Moonlight, which takes place in an older neighborhood beneath Tokyo Skytree. The plot focuses on Genta Kono, a 59-year-old former yakuza member who served more than ten years in prison for a past crime. Struggling to regain his footing in an unfamiliar world, Kono crosses paths with a young neighborhood boy neglected by his mother, and the two slowly connect as they share warm meals together [1].

Interactive Chat Assistant for Catalog Discovery

To complement the reading lineup, developer Orange Inc. introduced an interactive chat assistant feature built into the emaqi service to simplify emaqi manga catalog browsing. Finding new reading material can prove difficult as digital libraries expand, and the tool addresses this hurdle by letting readers ask for personalized suggestions based on mood, pacing, and tone. Rather than filtering by rigid genre tags, users can tell the assistant what kind of reading experience they want, whether it’s a lighthearted romantic comedy or a somber post-apocalyptic journey. That conversational approach helps readers discover overlooked gems across the catalog without endless manual searching [1].

Late-month additions continue on October 23 with Ginmoku’s light comedy My Maid Can’t Keep Her Mouth Shut!, which joins the premium library. The story follows high school student Shuji living with a maid who can’t keep a secret and blurts out every outrageous thought. The digital publication represents the creator’s first collected volume after building a strong following on social network Twitter [1].

As reported by William Moo of Anime Trending, the final October release arrives on October 30 with Orc with a Child, featuring a story by Misora Riku and artwork by Saitani Umetaro. Set seven years after a devastating war between demons and humanity, the story follows three elf siblings who live quietly in a rural settlement. Their peace is disrupted when an enemy orc steps out of the forest, causing the young adventurer Alicia to draw her sword in alarm. Instead of initiating combat, the wounded warrior cradles a human baby in his arms and pleads with the elves: “please save this child” [1].

Platform Origins and Growth Since 2021

Orange Inc. was founded in April 2021 as a technology venture focused on translating and distributing Japanese manga through digital tools. In July 2023, the startup announced that it had raised US$1.8 million to grow its localization pipeline and secure licensing agreements with publishers in Japan. The company later established its headquarters in the United States in March 2024 [1].

Following its move to the United States, Orange Inc. launched the mobile application version of emaqi in May 2025 to give smartphone readers direct access to licensed manga. Founder Orange Inc expanded its service on July 1 by launching the emaqi Premium monthly tier, allowing subscribers to read a curated group of ongoing series for a flat monthly fee. The October lineup of 11 exclusive titles shows how the platform builds its catalog by offering official English translations that were previously unavailable outside Japan. It’s part of an ongoing effort to bridge the gap between Japanese creators and international readers [1].

By combining new releases from Shinchosha, Houbunsha, and Shonengahosha with conversational discovery tools, the platform provides an accessible home for niche comedies and action hits, as documented by Anime News Network. Manga fans can browse the updated October catalog through the emaqi app or read on the web. The service gives readers flexible options to support licensed creators [1].
