The production committee for The Iceblade Sorcerer Shall Rule the World announced five new voice actors on November 3, 2026, introducing fresh allies and family members for the ongoing television broadcast. The new performers join the Iceblade Sorcerer cast ahead of their scheduled appearance in the fifth episode, which airs this Thursday in Japan. Animation studio Zero-G produces the second season following the closure of original animator Cloudhearts [1].

Alferius Family Additions

Four of the five new additions belong to the noble Alferius household, expanding the circle of magicians surrounding the Arnold Academy of Sorcery. Yuki Wakai plays Cathy Alferius, and veteran voice actor Toshiyuki Morikawa voices Abel Alferius, joined by Tetsu Inada as Cyril Alferius and Daiki Hamano as Lard Alferius in these upcoming academy scenes. Riona Imaizumi rounds out the announcement as Mia, a character appearing outside the noble family circle. Together, these five figures introduce a powerful dynamic that challenges Ray White during the autumn semester [1]. Their official character artwork debuted on Tuesday [3].

The official anime website categorized this reveal as the fourth wave of character information for the second season. English romanizations for the character names aren’t yet fully standardized by the Japanese committee, but all five figures will make their screen entrance on Thursday in the fifth episode. Japanese broadcaster TBS airs the late-night television broadcast at 1:23 a.m. JST [2].

The anime’s production committee paired the announcement with a promotional visual showing the five characters side by side. Cathy appears on the far left of the visual, followed by Abel, Cyril, and Lard, with Mia standing on the opposite end. This visual preview shows how the newest Iceblade Sorcerer cast additions fit into Ray White’s complex school life at the academy, where highborn magicians look down on commoners [1]. Viewers will see how the Alferius family interacts with Ray White and his friends as tensions rise between rival magical factions [2]. The anime staff released the image on social media [1].

Iceblade Sorcerer Cast Replacements for Student Roles

The second season features one notable cast change among the student characters due to health concerns. Miyu Kubota now voices Elisa Griffith, stepping in to replace original cast member Nana Harumura. Harumura originally announced an indefinite hiatus on October 23, 2024, because of health concerns, before talent agency VIMS confirmed on January 31, 2026, that she had chosen to retire from professional voice acting entirely. VIMS stated that “as of January 31, 2026, she will leave the agency and retire,” expressing heartfelt thanks to fans who had supported her work across roles like Dori-chan and her performances with the vocal unit Ciel [4]. Kubota took over the part without interruption for the autumn 2026 broadcast, ensuring Elisa Griffith remains present in the academy storyline [2]. Harumura originally voiced Elisa throughout the first season in 2023 [4].

Most of the primary Iceblade Sorcerer cast returned to reprise their roles for the fall sequel. Junya Enoki stars once again as Ray White, with returning performers Inori Saeki as Amelia Rose, Akira Sekine as Ariane Algren, and Azumi Waki as Rebecca Bradley. Kaede Hondo plays Claris Cleaveland, and Kohei Amasaki portrays Albert Allium [1]. Atsumi Tanezaki voices Stella White, keeping the familiar classroom dynamic intact from the 2023 broadcast [2].

Earlier casting announcements had already brought several prominent names into the second season’s roster. Hana Hishikawa joined as Olivia Arnold, Ryōhei Kimura took the role of Julius Orphe, and Aoi Koga signed on as Bianca Miller. In an earlier wave of casting, Shiki Aoki and Kazuyuki Okitsu joined the cast as Maria Bradley and Marius Basset, as reported by Anime Trending ahead of the autumn broadcast [1]. Konomi Kohara voices Emma Clarke, Sōichirō Hoshi returns as Lucas Forst, and Haruka Shiraishi plays Lizelotte Eden [2].

Production Staff at Studio Zero-G

Behind the scenes, the television adaptation underwent a significant studio transition between its broadcast runs. Animation studio Zero-G took over production duties for the second season, replacing the now-defunct Cloudhearts after that studio ceased operations. According to Anime Trending’s production report, director Masahiro Takata returned to steer the sequel, maintaining creative continuity by once again serving as audio director and supervising the overarching script composition for the full season. Takata previously directed all 12 episodes during the original winter 2023 broadcast [1].

Takata shares scriptwriting duties with returning writer Tomoko Shinozuka and newcomer Takahito Ōnishi, who previously penned episodes for series such as My Happy Marriage and Whisper Me a Love Song. Meanwhile, Mariko Kawamoto joined the crew as the new character designer, replacing Makoto Shimojima. Kawamoto previously worked on character designs for the anime Magica Wars [2].

The musical presentation also features new theme songs from notable Japanese recording artists. Musical project Sizuk performs the opening theme song, titled “Diamond Dust,” which plays over the animated sequence at the start of each broadcast on Japanese television and streaming platforms. Voice actress and singer Maaya Uchida provides the ending theme song, titled “Compression :[.” Non-credit versions of both theme sequences debuted online through official channels shortly after the television premiere. Official radio broadcasts on Onsen and YouTube feature the music as well [3].

Broadcast Schedule and Streaming

The second season premiered on Japanese television on October 8, 2026, kicking off its fall programming run. TBS broadcast the opening episode in its late-night slot at 1:23 a.m. JST, followed by a secondary television airing on satellite channel BS11 on October 9 at 11:00 p.m. JST [2].

International audiences can stream the sequel through Crunchyroll, which licensed the anime for simulcast distribution outside Asia. Crunchyroll previously streamed the 12-episode first season from January to March 2023 with both Japanese audio and an English dub. Ray White doesn’t boast about his past accomplishments, yet he secretly ranks as the most powerful sorcerer in the realm. Crunchyroll streams each new chapter as it debuts in Japan, giving global subscribers immediate access. Subtitled episodes arrive online within hours of the domestic Japanese broadcast [1].

To support the ongoing broadcast, the production committee launched promotional programs through several digital platforms. An official web radio show airs irregularly on Onsen, YouTube, and the TBS Anime channel, and a special pre-broadcast streaming program debuted on YouTube on October 6. Japanese streaming platforms ABEMA and Niconico Live also hosted full marathon streams of the 2023 first season on September 24 following the third wave of character reveals [3].

The Iceblade Sorcerer Cast in Original Print Media

The anime draws its narrative from author Nana Mikoshiba’s original fantasy story, which first launched on the web novel platform Shōsetsuka ni Narō in October 2019 before moving into commercial book publication. Publisher Kodansha picked up the story for print release under its Kodansha Lanove Bunko imprint starting on July 2, 2020, featuring fantasy character illustrations by artist Riko Korie. The novel hasn’t slowed down since its online debut, and Kodansha scheduled the tenth volume to ship in Japan on December 2, 2026. Nine volumes circulate in Japan as of June 2026 [1].

The story also found readers through several manga adaptations over the past six years. A manga adaptation by Sasaki Nobuhito launched in June 2020 on Magazine Pocket and concluded in January 2024 before the 16th and final collected volume shipped in April 2024 [1]. Kodansha USA Publishing licenses Sasaki’s manga in English, releasing digital and print volumes for overseas readers [2].

The printed universe grew further in May 2026 when a direct sequel manga began monthly serialization. Illustrated by Nao Kagami with composition by Ishiya Ogane, the sequel launched on May 27, 2026 under Kodansha’s Suiyobi no Sirius label on Niconico Manga [1]. This ongoing print continuation runs in parallel with the second television season, providing fresh story material for the Iceblade Sorcerer cast as new figures enter the story. Japanese readers access new chapters each month through the digital platform [2].
