Reiko Suzuki and Ayumu Murase Join Psyren Anime Cast

Reiko Suzuki and Ayumu Murase have joined the Psyren anime cast as Elmore Tenjuin and Van Tenjuin for the ongoing television broadcast produced by Satelight.

Production committee officials for Psyren announced two new cast members on October 22, adding veteran performers to the television series that began broadcasting in Japan earlier this month. The Psyren anime cast welcomes Reiko Suzuki as Elmore Tenjuin and Ayumu Murase as Van Tenjuin. William Moo at Anime Trending said the anime began airing on October 5, 2026, bringing Toshiaki Iwashiro’s psychic battle manga to television screens. Outside Japan, the anime streams on Crunchyroll and IVI under a license held by REMOW [1].

New Psyren Anime Cast Roles

The official @PSYREN_official account on X shared the casting update as the broadcast entered its third week [2]. Suzuki plays Elmore Tenjuin, while Murase voices Van [1]. Both figures join the story as Ageha Yoshina begins unraveling the mystery behind the red calling card that transports participants into the desolate wasteland [4].

The two new actors join a main cast that has led the television broadcast since its October premiere. Rikuya Yasuda stars as high school student Ageha Yoshina, working opposite Mayuko Kazama who voices his vanished classmate Sakurako Amamiya as both characters get pulled into the lethal wasteland. The core group of drifters also features Shunsuke Takeuchi as Hiryu Asaga, Soma Saito as Oboro Mochizuki, and Yukihiro Nozuyama as Kabuto Kirisaki [1]. Yuhko Kaida voices Matsuri Yagumo. In addition, veteran performer Nobuyuki Hiyama plays Dolkey as dangerous opposition mounts against the survival group. Mattway at AnimeTV reported that Satelight plans to adapt the manga story all the way through to its conclusion [2].

Studios handle cast announcements differently during crowded television seasons [2]. Earlier this autumn, BAKKKA unveiled 14 cast members for Reborn as a Goblin in one large release, but the Psyren anime cast has added new names in smaller waves as fresh plot arcs open up on screen. Before the weekly broadcast began, Psyren held its world premiere at Global Stage Hollywood to give fans an early look at the action [1].

Production Staff and Broadcast Schedule

Studio Satelight handles animation production under director Katsumi Ono. Ono previously directed Symphogear G through Symphogear XV, and he also led I Left my A-Rank Party to Help My Former Students Reach the Dungeon Depths!. Series composition comes from Shin Yoshida, while Akira Okuma provides character designs [1].

Takashi Ohmama, Tatsuhiko Saiki, and Shu Kanematsu composed the music for the series. Ohmama previously wrote music for Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch of Mercury, where he composed energetic orchestral pieces for fast-moving robot duels. Saiki and Kanematsu worked together on Aquarion: Myth of Emotions, creating thematic music that helps balance quiet character interactions with the high stakes of supernatural danger. The contrast is stark. In Psyren, the three composers build contrasting soundscapes to set normal school scenes apart from the ruined future wasteland [1]. The soundtrack shifts quickly between peaceful city life and frantic psychic clashes whenever characters answer the ringing pay phone [2].

The anime began broadcasting in Japan on October 5, 2026, while international distribution operates through licensing firm REMOW to bring episodes to viewers across select countries outside Japan. Crunchyroll and IVI stream weekly episodes. Both platforms provide original Japanese voice tracks with localized subtitles [1].

Two New Psyren Voice Cast Profiles

Ayumu Murase brings a rich voice acting history to the role of Van Tenjuin [1]. Born in the United States on December 14, 1988, Murase grew up in Aichi Prefecture before attending university in Kyoto and later moving to Tokyo. He joined the Japan Narration Actors Institute to study voice work, making his television debut in 2011 as a male student in Persona 4: The Animation. In 2012, he took his first main character role as Shun Aonuma in From the New World. Murase gained wide fame in 2014 when he starred as Shoyo Hinata in Haikyu!!, earning the Seiyu Award for Best Male Rookie in 2016. On April 30, 2023, he left agency VIMS to launch Aster Nine [6].

Murase is widely recognized for a high-pitched, androgynous vocal range that allows him to voice energetic younger boys as well as female characters without needing electronic pitch adjustments or heavy studio filtering [6]. He recently voiced Luca in Goodbye, Lara [1]. His credits also include Muniel in Sand Land: The Series and Zerofuku in Record of Ragnarok II [6].

Veteran performer Reiko Suzuki plays Elmore Tenjuin, bringing more than five decades of industry experience after starting her voice career during the 1970s and working on numerous classic television shows. She voiced Hayato’s Mother in Mobile Suit Gundam I. In 1986, she voiced Sno’s Mother in Dragon Ball before playing Pansy’s Mother in Dragon Ball: The Legend of Shenlong. Later audiences know Suzuki as Enya the Hag in JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Stardust Crusaders and Gaia in God of War [5].

Psychic Training at Tenjuin Roots Orphanage

In the world of Psyren, Elmore Tenjuin plays a central part in the mystery by offering a ¥500 million bounty to anyone who uncovers the truth behind the deadly urban legend. She runs the Tenjuin Roots Orphanage. The facility shelters psychically gifted children who survived severe personal trauma [4].

Elmore trains these young survivors to prepare for an inevitable confrontation with W.I.S.E, a ruthless organization responsible for transforming humans into monstrous creatures called Taboo. Exposure to Psyren’s toxic atmosphere alters the human brain, unlocking psychic powers known as PSI. These mental powers split into three branches: Enhance for boosting physical strength, Blast for projecting energy outward, and Trance for reading or controlling thoughts. Van Tenjuin is one of the gifted children living at the orphanage under Elmore’s care. When Ageha Yoshina and his friends face deadly threats in the wasteland, they visit the Tenjuin Roots home to hone their powers before returning to the survival contest [4].

Working with former participant Matsuri Yagumo, Elmore teaches the newcomers how to survive the games. Participants must follow strict calling card rules. They must avoid the central towers, protect their phone cards, and complete assignments before the card’s counter reaches zero. Failure leaves a player trapped forever in the wasteland [4].

Manga Origins and the Complete Television Run

The anime brings author and illustrator Toshiaki Iwashiro’s manga to the screen nearly two decades after its print debut. Shueisha serialized the psychic action story in Weekly Shonen Jump from December 3, 2007, to November 29, 2010. Shueisha compiled the run into 16 tankobon volumes in Japan [1]. In North America, Viz Media licensed the work for English release, publishing chapters in its digital magazine and issuing collected physical volumes for overseas readers [4]. Even though the manga concluded in 2010, Psyren kept a loyal following over the years. Fans continued discussing the series online, hoping an animation studio would adapt Ageha’s adventures [2].

That reader interest appeared clearly in industry surveys [2]. Psyren earned nominations three separate times in the annual “Manga We Want to See Animated” poll, placing 10th in the 2024 ranking [1]. When Satelight began work, Mattway at AnimeTV confirmed that the television adaptation will cover the complete manga storyline through to the final battle [2].

With Suzuki and Murase onboard, the Psyren anime cast deepens as the anime moves into its fourth week of broadcast [1]. As Ageha Yoshina and his companions uncover the secrets of the ruined world, the Tenjuin family introduces key psychic training that prepares the group for upcoming conflicts against W.I.S.E [4]. Fans can follow weekly episodes on Crunchyroll and IVI as Satelight brings Iwashiro’s complete shonen narrative to television screens [1].
