Studio Elle is animating The Eternal Fool’s Words of Wisdom for a January 2027 premiere, casting Minori Fujidera as Rina alongside Asley and Pochi.

Production staff for the television adaptation of The Eternal Fool’s Words of Wisdom announced on Monday that voice actress Minori Fujidera will join the cast as Rina. The fantasy project, based on the light novel series created by Hifumi and illustrated by Kurihito Mutō, is scheduled to premiere in January 2027 with animation by Studio Elle [2]. The production update arrived with a new key visual that shows Rina standing with Asley and his Level 100 canine familiar Pochi outside the Incantation Institute. International distribution for the Eternal Fool anime will stream through Crunchyroll during the same broadcast window [1].

Minori Fujidera Joining as Rina

Rina lives in Falltown, a ruined village that struggles to recover after heavy destruction, where she uses a sword to defend local residents while keeping her natural gift for magic hidden from view. Minori Fujidera joins the television cast to voice the young warrior during her first adventures with Asley [2].

Fujidera shared her perspective on the character after the casting announcement, explaining that she put great care into portraying the young swordsman’s personal growth during recording sessions. “Rina is a kindhearted, sincere, and hardworking girl who always gives her best,” Fujidera said in her message. She also praised the comedic exchanges between Asley and Pochi, pointing out that their lively banter reminds her of a comedy duo working through routines while exploring dangerous roads outside town borders. That lighthearted dialogue provides humor amid the serious magical dangers they face [1]. An early press release originally listed the actress under the first name Miyu, but staff promptly corrected the documentation on the official website to verify Minori Fujidera as the confirmed cast member [4].

Toshiyuki Toyonaga stars as Asley, while Yōko Hikasa voices Pochi, completing the central cast group that travels together after Asley leaves his quiet hermitage to explore the outside world [2]. Asley gained an immortal body after brewing the Eternity Elixir by accident, and then spent five millennia mastering ancient magical spells before setting out with his loyal familiar. Their team expands with Rina joining them [1].

New Visual for Eternal Fool Anime

The newly revealed promotional visual brings Asley, Pochi, and Rina together in front of the Incantation Institute, an important magical facility that serves as a key setting in the story [1]. Bushiroad Move provided the promotional artwork [2]. The main visual provides viewers with their first official look at the fantasy world framing the characters’ journeys, highlighting Rina’s determined posture with her sword and Pochi standing loyally beside Asley outside the grand research building. The visual establishes the bright fantasy aesthetic planned for the upcoming winter television broadcast [1]. Promotional artwork for the Eternal Fool anime was distributed to outlets through Bushiroad Move to accompany the casting announcement [2].

Light novel illustrator Kurihito Mutō drew a special commemorative illustration to celebrate the anime production announcement on Monday [2]. Mutō expressed excitement about seeing Asley and Pochi interact on screen, while also looking forward to animated depictions of other novel characters, including Rina, Aileen, Warren, and members of the adventuring group Silver [1].

Manga adaptation artist Fuh Araki created a separate celebratory illustration following the announcement from the production committee [2]. Araki said he was thrilled to see characters he previously drew for the serialized manga pages brought to life through full animation, bright colors, and dynamic movement on television screens [1]. Both artists shared their commemorative artwork across official channels to thank readers [2]. Their celebratory illustrations reflect the growing momentum behind the franchise as Studio Elle prepares the property for Japanese television stations and global streaming audiences ahead of the scheduled January 2027 premiere. The visual reveal marks a key transition for the fantasy property from printed pages into broadcast animation [1].

Production Team at Studio Elle

Studio Elle animates the television adaptation. Director Keisuke Ōnishi heads the production team, bringing previous directing experience from The Healer Who Was Banished From His Party, Is, in Fact, the Strongest, while Kurasumi Sunayama oversees series composition after writing scripts for Dr. Stone: Science Future and Harem in the Labyrinth of Another World [2].

Yumiko Mizuno is adapting Mutō’s original novel character concepts into animation designs, having previously collaborated with director Ōnishi on the banished healer fantasy series at Studio Elle. Composer Yuri Habuka is writing the musical score for the anime project under the record label Lantis. Habuka previously composed music for the anime series Maebashi Witches and the broadcast production Sushi and Beyond, bringing a diverse musical background to support both slapstick comedy scenes and intense magical showdowns [2]. The audio tracks will accompany Asley’s wandering adventures as he explores towns like Falltown. Mizuno’s animation designs preserve the expressive visual charm found in both the light novel volumes and Araki’s serialized manga adaptation [1].

Art director Kaya Aoki oversees art design and background environments, while Yūsuke Watanabe manages color styling as color key artist and Yūsaku Murakami directs compositing photography for each television episode. Sound director Yukio Nagasaki supervises audio production at Procen Studio with sound effects artist Hiromune Kurahashi, while Suguru Shakagōri serves as animation producer for Studio Elle [2].

Light Novel Origins and Manga Run

Author Hifumi originally published the fantasy narrative as a serialized web novel on the Shōsetsuka ni Narō website, where the story ran online between January 2015 and its completion in September 2019. Taibundo Publishing released the first physical light novel volume in September 2015, featuring character designs and internal illustrations created by original artist Kurihito Mutō [2]. Earth Star Entertainment later published the completed 14-volume fantasy run under its Earth Star Novel book imprint [1]. Volume 14 shipped in December 2019. The light novels built a loyal readership through Asley’s unusual mix of overwhelming magical mastery and total lack of practical social experience after centuries spent away from everyday civilization [2].

Fuh Araki launched a manga adaptation on Earth Star Entertainment’s Comic Earth Star web portal in April 2017. Earth Star Entertainment shipped the 13th compiled book volume for the manga on February 12, continuing the ongoing serialized publication of Asley’s travels as new readers discovered the fantasy story [2].

J-Novel Club holds the English publication license for the manga series, publishing the translated volumes under the title The Eternal Fool’s Words of Wisdom: A Pawsitively Fantastic Adventure. The publisher released the 10th compiled volume in English on September 9 through digital reading platforms. English readers can also access digitized manga chapters via the Crunchyroll Manga application, providing international fans with a direct avenue to explore the ongoing story before the anime premiere. The localized releases preserve the humorous dynamic between Asley and his opinionated canine familiar Pochi. J-Novel Club’s digital distribution helps introduce overseas audiences to Falltown and Asley’s quest for social redemption [2].

Broadcast Schedule for Eternal Fool Anime

Broadcasts will begin in January 2027. The Eternal Fool anime will debut on Japanese television stations in January 2027 [1]. The project is produced under the Yukyu no Gusha Azuri Production Committee, which coordinates broadcast scheduling and streaming partnerships in Japan [3]. Crunchyroll will stream the series worldwide during the same month for international anime subscribers [1].

The storyline follows Asley after two centuries of isolation, when his Level 100 canine companion Pochi demands fresh air and convinces the ageless wizard to venture outdoors to test his magical skills. Having spent five thousand years mastering forgotten magic, Asley sets out to drop several unglamorous titles from his reputation and reenter civilized society as a respected wizard. Their travels lead them into events like the Familiar Feud while protecting struggling settlements like Falltown. Pochi’s friendly advice often guides Asley when their plans go awry [3]. Their wandering life changes after a single act of kindness, leading them to cross paths with determined fighters like the young swordsman Rina [1].

Additional updates on broadcast times, theme songs, and supporting characters will be shared through the anime’s official X account before January 2027. With Minori Fujidera joining as Rina, the television adaptation gathers its main traveling trio ahead of its scheduled winter debut on Japanese television and Crunchyroll [1].
