Justice Composes Original GTA 6 Score for Rockstar Games

Rockstar Games revealed that French electronic duo Justice composed the original score for Grand Theft Auto VI, accompanied by a new collaborative single.

Rockstar Games announced on Thursday, October 15, that French electronic music duo Justice has composed the official GTA 6 score. The studio revealed the partnership with a new launch trailer on its website. The announcement confirmed that the Parisian musicians created the underlying musical themes and interactive background audio for the upcoming title. The project marks the duo’s first work on a video game, arriving ahead of the game’s scheduled launch on November 19, 2026. [2, 4]

French Duo Justice Composes GTA 6 Score

Justice consists of musicians Gaspard Augé and Xavier de Rosnay, who emerged in the mid-2000s during the influential French Touch electro wave. The duo released their debut album in 2007 and later delivered three additional records over the following decades. In Grand Theft Auto VI, their music shapes the state of Leonida. [2, 4]

The pair’s selection follows a busy period anchored by the 2024 release of their fourth full-length album, Hyperdrama, which took them on a worldwide tour that included an appearance at Coachella. That record drew attention for its vocal collaborations, particularly “Neverender,” another team-up with Australian artist Tame Impala that won the Grammy Award for Best Dance/Electronic Recording in 2025. Justice hasn’t shied away from working with prominent names outside dance clubs, having previously teamed up with Miguel and The Weeknd on studio projects. Bringing that experience into a video game project continues Rockstar’s habit of hiring popular electronic artists rather than orchestral composers. Their compositions will guide players through high-speed chases, quiet nighttime drives, and narrative scenes without relying on standard film strings. [2, 3, 5]

Players got their first taste of the duo’s sound in the fresh launch trailer released on Rockstar’s website. Grand Theft Auto VI is scheduled to hit store shelves on November 19, 2026, arriving on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. It’s been more than 13 years since Grand Theft Auto V debuted in 2013. Fans have waited over a decade to discover how the series sounds on modern consoles. [1, 4]

Collaborative Single Flower in a Hurricane Debuts

To accompany the score announcement, Rockstar released “Flower in a Hurricane,” an original single produced by Justice that serves as the musical centerpiece of the latest trailer. The track unites an unusual group of performers, blending vocals from Australian psychedelic project Tame Impala, American R&B star SZA, and Australian rock outfit King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard. [1, 2, 4]

The track serves both as a standalone release for Justice and as a core entry on the upcoming compilation, Grand Theft Auto VI: The Album. Working again with Tame Impala felt natural for Augé and de Rosnay after their Grammy success with “Neverender,” but bringing SZA and King Gizzard into the studio introduces a blend of soulful vocal lines and distorted rock guitar energy. Snippets of the song appear in the launch video to accent quick car stunts and coastal neon vistas. It isn’t just background noise, as the track shows how the developers intend to merge vocal pop appeal with club-ready synthesizers in the game’s audio design. [1, 3, 5]

Rockstar described the new music as capturing “the electric energy of Grand Theft Auto 6’s world of Vice City and Leonida.” The studio hasn’t released the full runtime of the track yet, but digital streaming services already host previews. Fans can listen to how the synthesizers mix with live instrumentation. The track provides an early preview of what the wider GTA 6 score will deliver during open-world gameplay. [1, 3]

How GTA 6 Original Score Differs from Past Soundtracks

The choice of a single electronic duo marks a noticeable shift from the musical approach used in Grand Theft Auto V. Back in 2013, Rockstar assembled an unusual team of composers that combined the ambient electronic textures of German group Tangerine Dream with hip-hop beats from The Alchemist and Oh No. [5]

In that earlier title, Woody Jackson also contributed cinematic guitars and horns, while DJ Shadow mixed and synced those styles into a reactive musical score. Entrusting the new game to Justice gives the background audio a more unified stylistic voice. Rather than balancing competing genres from separate composer camps, the Parisian musicians can shape a consistent sonic world inspired by dance culture, analog synthesizers, and disco basslines. That electronic sound fits the Florida-inspired setting of Vice City, where beachfront drives and nightclub districts play a central role in the narrative atmosphere. The developers believe this cohesive soundscape will pull players deeper into the criminal underworld. [1, 4, 5]

As score composers, Augé and de Rosnay are responsible for in-game audio cues and background themes that shift dynamically as players enter combat or escape the police. Game scores must respond to unpredictable player actions, requiring hundreds of separate audio stems that blend together without interrupting the action. It’s a demanding task, yet it gives Justice the freedom to redefine how a crime simulator sounds. [4]

Atlantic Records Readies 34 Physical Soundtrack Releases

While Justice oversees the game’s interactive score, Rockstar has also partnered with Atlantic Records to produce a separate compilation titled Grand Theft Auto VI: The Album. PerEXP Teamworks previously detailed Rockstar’s reveal of the 34-track GTA 6 soundtrack, which focuses on vocal songs written for the project rather than instrumental background audio. [1, 3]

The full package will feature 34 original tracks and will arrive in stores on November 19 with multiple vinyl variants, compact discs, and exclusive editions at retailers like Best Buy, Walmart, and Amazon. Rockstar has slowly unveiled songs from the compilation over recent weeks, with nine tracks already available to the public. Recent drops include Cardi B’s “Don’t Chart” and Mexican group Fuerza Regida’s “Suzuki.” Earlier previews introduced Yung Lean’s “That’s It,” featuring Future and Metro Boomin, along with Travis Scott’s “Rhyno.” Scott’s track was produced by Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo of French electronic duo Daft Punk. That production credit establishes that Parisian dance influences extend well beyond Justice’s own contributions. [1, 3, 5]

The lineup also includes veteran rocker Keith Richards of the Rolling Stones performing “Bright Lights, Big City,” country singer Morgan Wallen with “Last Thing You Need,” and artist Rauw Alejandro singing “Macacoa 2000.” Another collaborative effort brings together Ca7riel & Paco Amoroso, PinkPantheress, Fred Again…, and French producer Etienne de Crécy on “Sexy Magic.” This broad collection provides a varied listening backdrop that complements the instrumental score. In-Game Radio Stations and Vice City Audio Design

Beyond the original score and the standalone album, players will spend dozens of hours listening to in-game radio stations while cruising through Vice City. Last week, Rockstar shared details about its fictional broadcast channels and their celebrity hosts. The title features at least six broadcast stations when the game ships in November. [1, 5]

Confirmed disc jockeys include Bad Bunny hosting Cocoteo FM, Swedish pop singer Robyn leading Flash FM, and Lana Del Rey presenting Back Country Radio. In typical Rockstar fashion, the game pairs this music catalog with detailed environmental technology. GamingBolt said that the developers built an entire system to depict sweat on character models during humid Florida afternoons. That visual detail matches the audio design, where players transition between car radios, noisy city streets, and Justice’s synthesizer motifs during high-stakes robberies. The music reacts to vehicle speed, combat damage, and police pursuit levels. [1, 5]

More information about Justice’s score will arrive as Rockstar releases further gameplay clips ahead of November 19. Both the game and the complete 34-track soundtrack album will become available on that date, which will mark the first opportunity for fans to experience the full score in context. Until then, listeners can stream “Flower in a Hurricane” on major music platforms to hear the first taste of Vice City’s new sonic direction. [1, 3]
