Laid-Back Camp Season 4 Unveils April 2027 Return in New Trailer

The official website for Laid-Back Camp announced an April 2027 premiere for Season 4, sharing a new trailer, visual, and studio details.

The official website for Afro’s camping manga announced on Friday that Laid-Back Camp Season 4 will premiere in April 2027. The news arrived with a fresh trailer and visual confirming the main cast and theme songs. Shin Tosaka returns to direct the upcoming episodes [2].

April 2027 Broadcast Window

The new broadcast window places the fourth run in the spring 2027 anime season, following a three-year gap after the third season concluded in 2024 with the characters completing their cold-weather travels. Producers posted the main trailer and teaser visuals online. While earlier television seasons debuted during chilly January schedules, this April start moves the outdoor journeys into warmer spring weather across mountain campsites [2]. Broadcast stations and exact timeslots will be detailed in later updates [4].

Promotional videos spotlight returning high school campers Rin Shima and Nadeshiko Kagamihara as they inspect outdoor gear, pitch tents, and prepare hot soup against scenic backdrops in central Japan. Classmates Ema Mizunami and Mei Nakatsugawa join the trip. Both joined the camping group during the third season after meeting the older club members [1]. Official portal notes state that the new episodes aim to bring “a fresh breeze while maintaining the same relaxed atmosphere” that defined previous television runs [4].

Visual teasers show the girls relaxing with their camping cookware. Pet dogs Chikuwa and Hanpen rest nearby, keeping the easygoing slice-of-life comedy intact [4]. Streaming distribution plans for overseas territories haven’t been shared yet, but Crunchyroll previously streamed the first three television seasons as well as the adult cast members in the 2022 movie [2].

Laid-Back Camp Moves to FuRyu Pictures

Moving to FuRyu Pictures marks another animation transition for Laid-Back Camp across its television run. Animation studio C-Station produced the first two television seasons, the Room Camp short anime in 2020, and the feature film in 2022 before studio Eight Bit took over animation duties for the third season in 2024 [1]. FuRyu Pictures now handles full series production [4].

FuRyu Corporation established FuRyu Pictures in 2025 by spinning off animation operations into a dedicated subsidiary through an incorporation-type company split to handle major creative contracts. The parent firm already managed home video distribution. Director Shin Tosaka returns after guiding the third season at Eight Bit, which preserves creative continuity despite the change in animation teams as story arcs advance into second-year high school life. Tosaka took over from Yoshiaki Kyogoku, who directed the earlier seasons and the 2022 movie before moving on to direct Yatagarasu [1].

Sōta Machiguchi serves as animation producer for the new season. The trailer presents a clean visual style with hand-drawn character acting set against detailed nature landscapes. Studio Jack provides background art under art director Masatoshi Muto, who previously worked on I’m Looking for a Zombie, while Yūta Katayama directs photography and Kazuto Furuya oversees computer graphics [2].

Theme Songs and Creative Staff

The creative team combines veterans with newcomers across multiple animation departments to craft detailed campsite scenery and expressive character interactions. Pierre Sugiura, also credited as Masafumi Sugiura, returns to write the series scripts after handling series composition during season three, keeping character dialogue and pacing true to Afro’s original manga. Character designer Ryuta Ura joins the crew, replacing Hisanori Hashimoto from the previous run. Ura drew key animation for Demon Slayer – Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Mugen Train and the Fate/stay night: Heaven’s Feel film trilogy before taking on lead design roles [2]. He also worked as sub-character designer on Brave Bang Bravern! alongside food designer Koichi Motomura, who joins the crew to draw realistic camping meals [1].

Camp food remains central to the anime. Koichi Motomura leads cooking design, and Masateru Inada oversees prop design so portable cookers, tents, and camp cookware match genuine outdoor gear seen at Japanese campsites. Nanako Okazaki serves as color key artist, with Akinori Mishima managing offline editing and MFIVE handling music production for the soundtrack [2].

Music sets the calm tone for the anime. Composer Akiyuki Tateyama returns once again to score the background music, while Takeshi Takadera reprises his role as sound director at HALF H·P STUDIO to shape nature and campsite audio. Solo artist Asaka performs the opening theme song “Brand New.,” and singer Eri Sasaki provides the ending theme song “Happa no Tegami,” which translates as Leaf Letter. Pop band Kiminone contributes the series theme song “Tonari ni Ireba” [2].

Returning Voice Cast

The original voice cast returns for the season. Yumiri Hanamori voices Nadeshiko Kagamihara, and Nao Toyama plays Rin Shima, reuniting the central camping pair that launched the anime in 2018 [1]. Their first meeting by Lake Motosu near Mount Fuji set the story in motion when Nadeshiko moved from Shizuoka to Yamanashi and got stranded after cycling in cold weather [3].

Club members rejoin the outdoor trips. Sayuri Hara voices Chiaki Ogaki, Aki Toyosaki plays Aoi Inuyama, and Rie Takahashi voices Ena Saito as the high school club plans new excursions. Narrator Akio Otsuka returns with his calm voice for camping tips [1].

First-year students take on larger roles in the upcoming episodes. Maria Sashide voices Ema Mizunami, and Kokoa Amano voices Mei Nakatsugawa, both of whom appeared prominently in the new trailer and main visual for the season [1]. Tomoyo Kurosawa also returns as Ayano Toki, who joined the group on touring rides during later trips [2]. Official website notices confirm both characters will join the group for spring camp trips, adding fresh dynamics as the students progress through school [4].

Laid-Back Camp Manga Origins

The anime adapts the manga created by artist Afro [3]. Serialization began in Houbunsha’s Manga Time Kirara Forward magazine in July 2015 before moving to the digital Comic Fuz app in February 2019. Yen Press licensed the English edition, releasing the first translated volume in March 2018 [2]. Yen Press describes the premise simply: “Rin enjoys camping by the lakeshore, Mt. Fuji in view. Nadeshiko rides her bike to see Mt. Fuji, too. As the two eat cup noodles together, what scenery will they behold? This series will make readers fall in love with camping!” The translated editions introduced international audiences to authentic outdoor recipes, regional sightseeing spots, and real winter camping techniques across central Japan [1].

The Houbunsha-published comic reached its 19th compiled volume in 2026, showing steady popularity [1]. Its stories encouraged real-world solo camping and winter tourism across Yamanashi and Shizuoka prefectures. Afro’s work also inspired the Room Camp anime in 2020 and a live-action television drama from the Outdoor Activities Committee that debuted in January 2019 [3].

The property also expanded into console, mobile, and VR games. Developer Gemdrops launched virtual reality titles Lake Motosu in March 2021 and Fumoto Campsite in April 2022 to give players immersive campsite views. MAGES released console adventure Yurucamp Have a Nice Day! for PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch in November 2022. Mobile titles followed with All-in-one!! in June 2023 and Puzzle Camp in July 2024, keeping fans entertained while waiting for April 2027 [2].
