Sunblink Adds Player Homes to Hello Kitty Island Adventure

Sunblink and Sanrio launched Update 3.0 for Hello Kitty Island Adventure, adding player homes, customizable Sanrio character cabins, and a PC Friend Pass.

Sunblink and Sanrio released Update 3.0, titled “Welcome Home,” for Hello Kitty Island Adventure on October 8, 2026. The free update brings customizable housing systems to the cozy life sim on Apple Arcade, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, and PC via Steam. Players who spent months exploring the resort can now build and decorate their own living quarters on Home Island [2]. It’s the first time since the game launched that visitors can construct permanent personal spaces rather than staying in shared visitor cabins [1].

Building Player Mansions on Home Island

The main addition in Update 3.0 centers on Home Island, where each player can build a personal retreat from the ground up [2]. Earlier versions lacked private quarters [1]. That setup changes with this release, letting players start with a simple one-story cabin and gradually expand it into a large multi-floor island mansion as they gather materials across the resort [2].

Customization covers both the exterior structure and the interior rooms of the building. Players can choose new looks for the roof, alter the facade, and reshape the outdoor grounds to match their preferred taste. The interior allows full control over how rooms connect, giving decorators the freedom to arrange furniture without running into rigid wall limits. If someone wants a quiet reading corner or a crowded party hall filled with crafted tables and plush chairs, the building tools let them place items wherever they want [2].

Sunblink designed this system so players can steadily upgrade their property as they collect more crafting materials during daily island runs. They don’t lose access to older island features while working on the house, and the new space gives long-term players a fresh goal after finishing earlier quest lines. Home Island serves as a permanent creative base that stays open through every seasonal event [2].

Sanrio Cabins and Floorplans in Hello Kitty Island Adventure

Beyond personal homes, Update 3.0 introduces a storyline where players help build new cabins for familiar Sanrio characters who previously lived as non-player characters [1]. Island residents pitch in together. To make that construction process smoother, Sunblink added a flexible Floorplans feature that lets players insert rooms of varied shapes and sizes into any cabin, giving decorators the freedom to add wide living rooms or narrow side chambers that feel much more varied than the basic square cabins from earlier updates [2].

Sharing these arrangements with other island decorators has also become much easier thanks to Cabin Layouts and Kits. Players can pack up, save, and export their cabin setups, which lets them transfer a completed room theme from one cabin to another without rebuilding each piece from scratch. They can also send those layout kits to friends who want to recreate the exact design on their own island. It’s a handy tool for anyone who loves interior design but doesn’t want to spend hours placing each individual chair and lamp again [2].

Utility arrives through character mailboxes placed outside these renovated homes. Players can check their own Home Mailbox to retrieve lost items, collect return gifts, and gather daily deliveries processed through the Nul Collector Box [2]. Character mailboxes offer an even bigger convenience by unlocking an auto-gifting option once a player reaches a high enough friendship rank with that resident, meaning players won’t have to run all over Big Adventures Park every single day just to hand over favorite gifts [1].

New Decorating Tools with Marroncream

To support all these housing additions, Sunblink added a Creative Mode Room where players can experiment with interior styles before committing their real inventory. In this space, decorators can test almost any item available in the game to see how different wallpapers, flooring patterns, and furniture sets look together. Once a player settles on an arrangement they like, they can export the room design or generate a handy list showing the exact materials needed to build it on Home Island, helping planners gather resources without guessing what recipes they still need to craft [2].

A new resident joins the island [1]. Marroncream, a cheerful rabbit from the suburbs of Paris, joins the permanent cast as a design mentor. Known for her fashion sense, talent with handicrafts, and knack for baking delicious sweets, she assists players with floorplans and cabin expansions [2]. Jenni Lada said on Siliconera that Marroncream works much like My Sweet Piano, offering creative advice as players reshape their living spaces and plan homes for their friends [1].

In addition to the permanent housing features, Sunblink launched the 2026 edition of the fall-themed Days of Plenty event on October 8, 2026. The celebration started in 2024. Players gather event currency that they can trade for seasonal clothing and furniture, and while the 2024 storyline placed Pompompurin in the central role and the 2025 event centered on Keroppi, this year’s story focuses on My Melody, My Sweet Piano, and Little Twin Star Lala. That seasonal activity gives players a steady stream of festive decorative goods to place inside their newly expanded homes right away [1].

Multiplayer Friend Pass and Switch 2 Bundles

Multiplayer options expand through a free Friend Pass on PC via Steam [2]. This option lets owners of Hello Kitty Island Adventure invite friends who don’t own the game to join them in cooperative sessions. Guests using the pass can experience early portions of the island adventure, solve puzzles, and help work on vacation properties without buying the full release, lowering the barrier for group play so newcomers can test the waters before deciding to purchase their own copy [1].

For console players, Sunblink and Sanrio announced a physical release called the Nintendo Switch 2 Friendship Bundle, priced at $59.99 [2]. The package launches on October 15, 2026 in North America, Europe, and Australia, followed by a release on November 20, 2026 in Japan and Asia [1]. Major retailers have opened pre-orders. Amazon, Target, Best Buy, and Wal-Mart carry the boxed edition for Nintendo’s newest hardware, giving collectors a physical package to put on their shelves [2].

The game is also available on Apple Arcade, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, and PC. Sunblink said that updates will keep all versions synchronized so players receive the same seasonal events and balance tweaks regardless of where they play. If friends want to visit each other’s resort islands, the multiplayer system supports collaborative crafting, puzzle-solving, and cabin tours across the community [2].

How Does the Hello Kitty Island Adventure Update Expand Island Life?

Update 3.0 builds on the foundation of a cozy life sim. When Hello Kitty Island Adventure first debuted, it stood apart from standard farming games by blending laid-back decorating with open-world exploration, platforming, and cooperative multiplayer challenges in Big Adventures Park. That approach earned the game notable recognition, including Apple Arcade Game of the Year, multiple Webby People’s Voice awards, and nominations for Best Mobile Game at The Game Awards 2023 [2].

Sunblink operates out of Boulder, Colorado. The studio was founded by three industry veterans who previously created mobile hits such as DragonVale, SpellFall, and NinJump, focusing on friendly experiences that encourage shared creativity among players of all ages. Sanrio was founded in 1960. Today, Sanrio reaches audiences in more than 130 countries, keeping classic characters like Hello Kitty—created in 1974—alongside favorites such as Kuromi, Cinnamoroll, and Badtz-Maru [2].

Sanrio also continues to build its game lineup with projects like the upcoming Sanrio Fragaria Memories mobile game planned for digital storefronts. By adding customizable mansions, modular floorplans, and streamlined friendship tools in Update 3.0, Sunblink gives players meaningful reasons to return to Home Island. Does the new update make decorating feel like a true second life on the island? For players eager to build dream cabins alongside beloved Sanrio friends, it gives them plenty of creative room to grow [2].
